Superior Fundraising
This morning was a watershed moment for Patti's Paladins. This year's online fundraising total passed last year's total. As of now we are entering unexplored territory.

At this point I won't compare us to other teams. We have surpassed our own best efforts from a year ago, and that is enough to merit a pat on the back. Well done, Paladins!

6/25/06 At the Zoo
A third of the way into our 30-some mile ride on Sunday, Rick, Rebecca, Sam (left to Right) and myself (taking picture) stopped at the zoo for a picture.

What a *fun* ride from MLK / Liberty, following the lake past whatever NASCAR thing was going on, through downtown, the west side neighborhoods, and to the Cleveland Zoo and back again. After that, Sam lead Rick and myself (Mel) through baseball fields, over curbs, around University Circle, up Murray Hill, to La Gelateria in Cleveland Heights where we mangia-d on sorbet. Yumm. The guys escorted me back to my car and presumably rode back home on their bikes. Rebecca got in around 20 miles; 30.5 Miles for me; at least 35.5 for each of the guys. I'm sure that's nothing for Sam.

um.... yeah. (RE: Ride Tonight!)
My most fervent hopes have been dashed. No ride tonight, as the weather is REALLY not cooperating.
Mel's looking for people to ride tomorrow night (That would be Friday). Get a hold of her at *email removed* or at *phone number removed.*
And I'll see all ya'll Sunday morning!
Sunday, June 25 9:00 AM
30 miles starting in Cleveland Heights. This may be a re-ride of the Memorial Day that so many people wanted to do, or it may be a trip to the zoo via the Lakefront.

Update...
Hi all,

As most know I have been dealing with a nasty burn on my leg due to a heating pad incident. Well it's "gonna leave a mark". I am interested in cool stories I can tell people when they bring up the scar.

My current front runner is "Oh Yeah, that was a Shark bite I got off the coast of Chile while attending my Super-Villain training class."

Any other suggestions?

Patti

Ride Tonight!
Thursday, June 22, 7:00 PM
20 miles starting at our house, *address removed* in Cleveland Heights. Seeing as how this is one of the longest days of the year, that should be plenty of time.

It also looks like there might be another round of rain between now and then. My fervent hope is that it will come and go before then, and we'll get in something afterward.

In? Reply to this e-mail, or leave a message at *phone numbers removed*.
And in regard to the following post, 2,285 miles with 240 miles still on the table.
:-)

Goals
I've been reviewing what I know about our team's riders, and what I can see on our individual web pages. Based on that, I raised the monetray goal again to $20K. Don't be intimidated. I think we can do it handily.

I also added up our intended mileage for the ride: it's at least 1780 bicycle miles. That's counting only the minimum of 30 miles for the 6 riders for whom I don't know how far they plan to ride - I suspect there's another 360-500 miles there not yet accounted for.

Also, there are three more potential riders I know of that seem very close to committing to ride the MS150.
So in very round numbers, the Paladins will be riding for $1000 per mile, give or take, and about $1000 per rider.

Wow.

Thank you all for helping build this team to what it is! When Patti asked me 3 years ago, "Hey! Why don't you do something for MS?" I never dreamed my involvement would escalate to this level. I am very proud to be associated with each and all of you, and I look forward to doing this again and again for years to come.

Get on your bikes and ride!

My First Blog post
As I sit at the keyboard I want to write something momentous for this occasion. I want to say that we will find a cure for MS, I want to say that we will change the lives of many. I can't say those things will happen, but I can say we will change to world. As Margaret Mead said: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world, indeed it is the only thing that ever does."

More pictures from last year.

The team's MS Partner in Hope, Patti, passing out a personalized bandannas to each rider. It was probably the most touching moment that any PttP team experienced in 2005.

The team listens to Patti's speech. Not a dry eye in the bunch.

When the crying is done, the team poses with Patti.

Pictures from Last Year
For anyone who wants pictures from last year's PttP I'll post a few here. Team members may feel free to use them.

Maps in hand, the team prepares to set out on their 150 mile journey. Wish them luck.
